From machine vision to pogoing robots - gain experience of digital live art, installation and performance, by combining camera, video and sound technology; reactive, interactive and inter-additive scenarios; programming and software construction to create immersive environments, culminating in a dynamic performance.
Computers are dumb machines directed only by human intelligence and applied rule construction. How can such a thing become a live improvisational partner? This course explores this question by combining an exciting mixture of hands-on experience, history and theory, individual experimentation and expression, collaboration and improvisation.
Create and contribute to a melting pot of ideas, images, sounds and algorithms, utilise image detection and attribution, gestural interfaces, the logical structures of machine code, dialogue and decision making, to produce a innovative group performance / installation. No programming or performance experience is necessary but an enthusiasm and willingness to share ideas and reflect on them is.
